A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine that resides on a server with other virtual machines.
With a VPS, you have control over the system operating system and configuration.
You will have the freedom to install applications that are not supported on your shared hosting platform.
VPS plans better suits a developer’s needs, especially now when the entry cost is as low as Ksh 800 per month.
Cloudpap offers two types of VPS plans; managed and unmanaged.
Managed VPS
With a managed VPS plan, you get a similar environment to your shared hosting but with increased resource availability.
This plan is a good option if you need more resources than what you are getting with your shared hosting account.

By default, all managed VPS plans include a cPanel and WebHost Manager.

Unmanaged VPS plans are for more advanced users who are comfortable using the command-line interface and doing system administration tasks.
This plans includes root access so that you are able to customize the server as much as you want.
This includes the following:
-
Installation and configuration of applications.
-
Doing upgrades
-
Security patches
-
Backups
-
Reboots
-
Custom partitioning
-
Resetting account passwords
However, as Cloudpap, we do the following things when it comes to unmanaged VPS Plans:
-
Initial provisioning of the VPS
-
Additional IP address
-
Re-provisioning the VPS with a different operating system
-
Resetting the VPS back to it’s original settings
Note that unmanaged VPS plans do not include cPanel
